Friday is Good
Friday is good
because Sunday is on its way.
A mind full of questions–
What words could I even say?
The Son of God rides into town as a King,
yet with no crown of gold, only suffering He would bring.
Alone in a garden, He falls to His knees,
“Father, if there is a way, let this pass from me.”
He breaks the bread with the 12 He called His own,
Yet before the night ends…He stands alone.
Betrayed in the dark for 30 pieces of silver,
the price of a slave for the One who delivers.
God in the flesh, handed over to die,
the One who gives life, condemned by a lie.
Lifted on a tree, reversing the fall
the fruit once taken now redeemed for us all.
Buried in silence, the world holds its breath,
as Hope Himself is swallowed by death
Friday feels final like the end of the story we feared,
But Sunday is coming, and now Sunday is here.
The stone is rolled, the grave undone!
Darkness thought it won, but it lost to the Son!
Friday is good not for the pain, but what it would start,
It’s good because Sunday declares death has no claim on your heart.
